About

I didn’t know that when I was 19 years old, the help I provided to a woman whose husband had recently died was a service that many people are in need of. The back story is that Mrs. Helms lived in a time when men traditionally handled the financial affairs of the household. Mr. Helms passed away leaving his widow in a bind. There were loads of unpaid medical and household bills and Mrs. Helms had no idea where to start. In fact when I met her she had never written a check in her life. Over a period of several months I billed the primary and secondary insurance companies and managed to get all medical services paid for in full. I got the household bills caught up and left Mrs. Helms with a system to follow so all the bills would be paid on time. I taught her to write down each check in her check register and how to balance her checking accounts.

That was a long time ago and while much of our financial lives are now digitized, it is still just as important to keep bills paid on time, know how much money you have and what your monthly nut is. Systematically keeping track of it all so that you are prepared for a smooth transition for future budgeting, greater understanding of your present and future financial needs is what I do.
